Properties Update

There is so much happening in and around the Lincoln Village properties! We wanted to share with you a quick summary of what will be taking place during the next month or so. Thanks be to God!

We will be welcoming 2-3 new resident families and have 2 rollovers completed with those families relocated to more suitable housing. Three more rollovers will have begun and completed as soon as possible for new residents.

2 demolitions completed by Lincoln volunteers to prep these houses for the next phase of the renovation process performed by Lee Builders.

1-4   NEW construction houses underway – This will be a first for Lincoln Village Ministry!

New security measures will be undertaken at our Lincoln Academy playground which will include a fence around the perimeter.

We always have ongoing mowing, painting, general maintenance and repairs in various areas.

We are excited about expanding our housing options and  having the opportunity to meet and serve new people. The same is true for welcoming new families into the school for the 2023-24 school year. However - all of these projects move along at a rapid pace and Lincoln still relies greatly on the support of volunteers. So - if you or your group / church / company / family / etc.. have a desire to come & help out - just reach out to our Volunteer Coordinator - Janah Baker and she’ll get you plugged in. Skills are helpful - but not a necessity. We have tasks for lots of skill ranges. All we ask is that you come join us doing God’s Kingdom work!

Little Linc

Little Linc Preschool is enjoying the beautiful spring weather!  Spring always reminds us of new life and new beginnings.  Our pre-K students are preparing to graduate, and we have new preschool applicants visiting Little Linc over the next few weeks.  Please pray with us for the Lord to make the path straight for all of these precious children and their families!

As the preschool director, I have the privilege of witnessing the many ways our teachers love our students and point them to Jesus.  Last week, a child returned from spring break very down on herself.  She repeatedly told her teachers that she was not good at anything and she was a loser.  Instead of just encouraging this child or redirecting/distracting her, her teachers engaged the lie she was believing and replaced it with the truth!  Morning carpet time took a pause as one teacher taught the children about their identity in Christ.  We are God's creations, fearfully and wonderfully made, and Jesus died so that we can be His children and live forever with Him.  Meanwhile, the other classroom teacher was reminded of a song to help the children remember whose they are - Hillsong's "Who You Say I Am." Soon the class was singing this song on repeat and making up motions.  It has become a class favorite, and they plan to share it with their parents at graduation.  The precious child who began the week believing she was a loser asked her teachers repeatedly to play this song for her, even on the playground.  The Lord is doing a work in her heart and the hearts of her classmates, communicating His unconditional love for them.  Please pray with us that our Heavenly Father would grow these seeds of faith in our preschool students!

Chorus from "Who You Say I Am"

Who the Son sets free Oh is free indeed I’m a child of God Yes I am In my Father’s house There’s a place for me I’m a child of God Yes I am

I am chosen
Not forsaken
I am who You say I am
You are for me
Not against me
I am who You say I am

Lincoln Academy

We always look forward to the first week of March because we love Read Across America Week!  Each day, the teachers dress up as characters from children's books and we provide a special breakfast treat. The students enjoy figuring out which characters we are and which book we might be representing.

Mr. Lyle has closed Camp Lead registration and our summer camp is FULL!  We look forward to our students participating in a summer full of worship, Bible study and lots of fun outdoor activities!

The students and teachers all enjoyed a wonderful spring break!  We are feeling well-rested and ready to tackle the last quarter of the 2022-2023 school year. While we are busy finishing out the current school year, we are also working hard to make plans for 2023-2024!  Applications for the fall are currently available.

During the month of March, our teachers carve out time to meet with every child's parent.  We are so thankful that we have been able to meet in person this school year!

Mentor Opportunity

The Lincoln Launch program is part of LVM's goal of supporting and nourishing our students from preschool through high school and beyond.  We hold a weekly class with our 7th and 8th graders during which we look at God's direction for their lives as they leave Lincoln Academy and enter high school.  We cover topics such as time-management, study skills, test-taking skills, goal setting, friendships, and most of all, their relationship to Christ.  As part of our on-going support for our students, we would love for each 8th grader to be paired with a mentor to come alongside them for their high school years.  If you love Jesus and would want to serve Him by serving one of these students, please contact our volunteer coordinator, Janah Baker.

Volunteers

This month we were joined by the student government association of Life Christian Academy. This group of teens and their chaperones helped us get a newly renovated house ready for a family to move into. They spent their afternoon learning about all that God is doing in Lincoln Village then got to work cleaning this house top to bottom. They prepared this four bedroom house for a family of 7 needing room to expand! We are so thankful for groups like Life Christian SGA that give of themselves to help move forward the mission of Lincoln Village Ministry. If you have a group that would like to get involved in this way we would love to hear from you! Check out our website at www.lincolnvillage.org/volunteer for more information.

Thank you to Cove Church for donating a portion of their generous Big Give Event to Lincoln Village! What a blessing!
