Community Engagement

Real transformation cannot be achieved without a group of people - a community - partnering with us to serve as God’s hands and feet to touch lives with the hope of Christ.

The Starks

We serve as volunteers at Lincoln Village Ministry in the Learning Lab, as reading buddies, and in various mentor programs. We look forward to our time at Lincoln because the kids and the residents uplift our spirits. Lincoln’s willingness to serve the least of these in Jesus' name is what makes them special. At other schools where we have volunteered, fighting and disrespect is the norm. The students at Lincoln are different. When you feel loved and feel that somebody cares, you act differently.

I came to Lincoln Village Ministry to volunteer during my alternative spring break at Vanderbilt. That week changed my life in many ways, and Lincoln quickly became my happy place. Lincoln is a place I can go to focus on God’s love and learn to find joy in Him through the people and the work. I get to see the Body of Christ working in the way it was meant to and am filled up in a way I cannot be elsewhere. The presence of God is tangible, and the light of Christ shines so brightly that it keeps me coming back.
