“Let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.”
1 John 3:18

Bill and I give to Lincoln Village Ministry because it is love in action. The heartbeat of the ministry is simply Jesus. When a house is restored or purchased, the foundation is Jesus. When mothers and children receive love and care, the arms of Jesus are wrapped around them. The footsteps of Jesus follow every student enrolled in Lincoln Academy and all who live in Lincoln Village will ‘taste and see the Lord’s goodness’. Our family gives so that the needs of LVM continue to be met so that the name of Jesus spreads. Every time we walk onto Lincoln grounds, we are thankful to be a part of such a Jesus centered ministry.  We love Lincoln Village. We pray for Lincoln Village. And we give to Lincoln Village.

Lincoln Academy

On rainy days the kids blow off steam playing games in the auditorium. One recent rainy day Mr. Mark joined in a Fish Fish Shark game with the K-2nd graders. He is fast!

From Ms. Bodin, our 7th and 8th grade teacher: A huge and grateful shout-out to Lakshmi for giving her time to guide the students in the creation of beautiful paintings for Mother’s Day! The students enJOYed “painting for real.”  It’s been fun hearing where each one of the works of art is residing in each home.

May 24th we had an extra special Wednesday Worship as we celebrated our outgoing 8th graders. We know God has big plans for each of them and pray that they continue to seek Him in all that they do. Congratulations 8th grade! We love you!

Little Linc

Little Linc Preschool had a wonderful end to our school year in May.  Our after school care teachers planned a very special Mommy and Me Tea Party to celebrate a great year.  We had the unique experience of having all girls enrolled in after school care, and our teachers had fun with some girl inspired themes this year.  The children dressed up and hosted their moms, displaying all they have learned about good manners as princess daughters of God.  It was a very memorable day for our girls and their mothers.

Our preschool graduation was a celebration of all the children learned at school this year.  Each class sang and the pre-K class recited Psalm 100. The after school program prepared a sweet song about the fruit of the spirit to share at graduation.  The pre-K class danced and sang to "Who You Say I Am," which has become their class song.  The parents were truly blessed as the children proclaimed that they are children of God.  Each child received an award acknowledging ways they were a blessing this school year.

Camp Little Linc is now in session for six weeks.  Our summer program is offered to children from our three year old, pre-K, and kindergarten classes who are planning to return for the upcoming school year.  The teachers work with the children on their academic skills to avoid the summer lapse in learning.  Bible time, arts and crafts, small groups focused on phonics, math, and handwriting, read alouds, and play time happen every day.  Our theme for the summer is camping, and the children are having a great time with pretend play and creative snacks around this theme.  Thank you for the prayers and donations that make our Camp Little Linc possible!

Volunteer Highlight

During SERVING Saturday we were joined by 5 members of the Excalibur Beta Club. These girls worked tirelessly helping clean up demolition material in a recently demolished Davidson Street home. They did not hesitate to jump right in and start doing what was necessary to get the job done and they had a great time doing it! We are so thankful for these girls and all of their hard work.

Volunteers

Summertime brings about a lot of volunteer activity at Lincoln Village and recently we were joined by Realtors in Action and Handsfree Workcamp. Realtors in Action is a day of service organized by Realtors in our area to serve their city in various ways. Lincoln Village had the pleasure of working with 3 local Realtors who helped us paint trim for a home that is being renovated as well as cleaning another home that was recently vacated. Handsfree Workcamp is a week-long service experience organized through Central Church of Christ where students from all over the country come together to serve in different parts of our city. These students were on campus at Lincoln Village for 2 days and spent their time learning about poverty in our area, cleaning up demolition material, and landscaping around campus. If you have a group that would like to serve with us this summer, we would love to have you! You can contact Janah Baker at janah@lincolnvillage.org.

Summertime in Lincoln Village

Just because school is out -- it doesn't mean things slow down in Lincoln Village.

This is the time of year that we have the privilege of hosting multiple groups -- some for as long as a week. In addition to the local groups that visit each summer - we also get to share Lincoln with groups from other Alabama cities, as well as Georgia and Tennessee groups.

Summer Camp has ramped up for Little Linc and Camp Lead. It is so much fun to look out at the playgrounds each day and see the students romping in a sprinkler or sliding down a giant inflatable. The older group kicked off their summer with a trip to Smith Lake for a day on the water.

We have two short months to complete several tasks in the school and preschool to get them ready for the upcoming school year.  We also have many projects going on in the housing area. We recently completed demolition of two more houses and are ready to hand them over to Lee Builders -- who are in the process of completing one more renovation in June and are starting New Construction on four houses. This is something new for Lincoln. Brand new houses! We have a few properties that are being "rolled over" and being spruced up for new residents in the near future.

Beautiful Things

We are praising God for a wonderful Beautiful Things luncheon on May 9. Almost 300 women gathered for fellowship and to honor the women in our lives who have impacted us. It was a privilege to celebrate a few of our residents who have recently become homeowners, and we were touched by our guest speaker Katy Jo McDaniel's story about finding beauty and God's goodness in both the joy and the pain. Thank you to everyone who sponsored, attended, donated, bid on silent auction items, and prayed for the event. We hope you will join us next year on May 7, 2024!

Would you like to learn more in-depth about Lincoln Village Ministry?

A new class of Lincoln Ambassadors will kick off in August, and we'd love for you to join us!

Lincoln Ambassadors have one main focus - to help spread awareness in the community about Lincoln Village Ministry. Ambassadors meet quarterly for one year to receive an in-depth look at the ministry. A different department is introduced at each meeting to give Ambassadors a well-rounded view of the holistic services of LVM. If interested, please contact alison@lincolnvillage.org.
