June 2023

Camp Lead

It has been a busy month for the students of Camp Lead! Each week the kids were given swim lessons from HSA, golf lessons from the Ledges, and sports instruction from Clutch Performance! One week in June, the campers attended Southwood Presbyterian Church’s Vacation Bible School where they learned about shining the light of Jesus! There were also field trips to the library, splash pad, FLOW, Monte Sano, and the Space and Rocket Center! June was such a blast, they can’t wait to see what is in store for July!

Little Linc

Little Linc Preschool is growing!  We are adding a new pre-K class for the coming school year!  Our Lincoln staff and groups of volunteers are working hard to prepare a space for the new classroom.  If you'd like to help purchase items for the new classroom, the link to our Amazon wishlist is below.

We are also requesting the following gently used items:

-Duplo blocks

-train table

-wooden train set

We are praying for two additional staff for this new pre-K class. If you are passionate about the Gospel and enjoy working with children, we would love to have you apply!  One position is a morning assistant teacher, Monday-Friday, 8am-1pm with the option to stay until 3pm if desired.  The other position is an after school teacher working Monday-Thursday, 12pm-5pm.  Please click the link below to apply to see the full description.

Summer has been a great time to break with our normal routine at Little Linc Preschool, but it's been anything but quiet at Lincoln!  Camp Little Linc offered 12 students from our three year old, pre-K, and kindergarten classes a chance to learn and grow in a safe environment for six weeks this summer.  Our teachers transformed the classroom into a camping themed space, and the children loved making fun food, crafts, reading books about the great outdoors, and playing together.  During Bible time, the children learned about the Old Testament tabernacle (God dwelled in a tent!) and how every piece of the tabernacle pointed to the coming Savior - Jesus.  The children kept their academic skills sharp with small groups focused on math, phonics, and writing.

Summer is also a time to get our buildings and playgrounds ready for a new year!  Volunteers have been cleaning, painting, pressure washing, and weeding, making our preschool welcoming for the new year.  A new playground set is built and ready for the children to enjoy.  We are thankful for the staff and volunteers who keep our preschool safe and beautiful!

Daddy Daughter Dance

So thankful that Lincoln Village Ministry was able to partner up with me yet again for the 2nd annual Daddy Daughter Dance in the community. It melts my heart to see fathers eagerly wanting to partake in this event. It is essential that fathers are one of the major staples of their children's lives, especially their daughters. A lot of young girls look up to their fathers as role models and examples of what they go after later in life. At the Daddy Daughter Dance the fathers were reminded that they do not have to be perfect, but to be present goes a long way!

Properties Update

We have a lot of activity happening in our Lincoln North neighborhood. Lee Builders is working on four new construction houses on Front St. We have a newly renovated house on Davidson ready for occupancy. Three rollovers will be ready for new residents by early to mid August and we have an in progress renovation ready for a new resident by mid to late August.

On our main campus, We completed a partial rollover of 113 Taylor Avenue and a new resident is in there. The exterior of 109 Taylor was power washed to remove any loose paint. Volunteer groups applied a primer to the body of the house and then applied 2 coats of paint.

The office bathroom in the Little Linc building was remodeled with a new floor. Repairs have been started on the roof. The walkway leading up to the classrooms was replaced. Cleaning and additional painting will be done in the coming weeks. New railroad ties and gravel were added to the areas near the parking lot.

The bathroom stalls in the school have been removed and new fixtures are being constructed. Floors are being newly waxed and classrooms cleaned.
