A Home of Her Own: Katrina’s Story

On a beautiful September morning, the Lincoln family gathered to celebrate with former resident Katrina as she moved into her new home through Habitat for Humanity.

For Katrina, becoming a homeowner is a testimony to God’s faithfulness and the power of holding on to hope. She gives God all the glory for this milestone and the future is represents for her family. Her new home is a place where her children can feel safe, know they are deeply loved, and build a more stable future.

As a participant in Lincoln Village Ministry’s Evolve program, Katrina took full advantage of the Matched Savings Program. The program encourages residents to save toward personal goals, with Lincoln village matching up to $2,500 in savings for a potential total of $5,000. Funds can be used toward purchasing a home, starting a small business, or pursuing education.

Katrina used her matched savings to help cover the closing costs associated with her Habitat for Humanity home. Through her own commitment to saving and the support of Lincoln Village, she took an important step toward the dream of homeownership and a sustainable future for her family.

More than a house, this is a foundation for stability, peace, and hope for generations to come.

The Impact Goes Beyond Home Ownership

Life at Lincoln builds more than finacial stability. It creates a community where families find friendship and lasting connections. Katrina’s daughter and her former next-door neighbor, another Lincoln Village child, became best friends. More than two years later, their friendship continues, a reminder that the impact of this community reaches far beyond a family’s time in the program
