LVNA Looks Ahead to 2007

Dear Neighbors,

On behalf of our Executive Board, I send you greetings and warm
holiday wishes.  Since 2004, the Lincoln Neighborhood Association
has worked to improve the quality of life for our residents.  Our plan
has been simple: collaborate with our elected officials and police,
while advocating for you on dozens of issues.  In the past year,
we've done just that, including several that are worth mentioning:

* Collaborated with our city's engineering department to get
Lincoln Village Drive re-paved and striped - this has brought
greater safety to the neighborhood;
* Worked closely with our City Council and RCPD to close the
problematic business Betty's Kitchen;
* Took proactive steps with the owner of Bradshaw Inn to demolish
the property, which will take place in 2007;
* Sponsored several community events, including National Night
Out, and "Light the Village 2006";
* Participated in AM Winn's Pancake Breakfast and Honor Roll
BBQ.

But that's not all.  LVNA became an important player in three local
development projects, provided input to the City on various safety
and traffic ordinances, and participated in the opening of City Hall
last April.  Together with the City and RCPD, we've made Lincoln
Village safer and more attractive.  While I and my fellow board
members are pleased with these results, we know that more can be
done.
Here is where you come in: support LVNA in 2007 by
getting involved in our committees and on the issues that
interest you.
 Attend our twice-monthly meetings, which have
moved to the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month.  Or, simply keep in
touch with us by visiting our website and emailing us when you have
questions about issues around the Village.

My thanks to Council members Dan Skoglund and the Rancho
Cordova City Council, Police Chief Ruben Meeks and RCPD, and
the many City staff who have helped LVNA achieve its greatest
success so far.  With your continued support, we'll make 2007 even
better.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve your interests as we make
Lincoln Village a better place to live.

             With Regards,

Thanks to the Families and Others
      Who Stand Behind Our Council Members

Congratulations to David Sander on being named Mayor of Rancho
Cordova and to Linda Budge who was selected as our new Vice
Mayor. These are great people who will continue to do great things
for our city.

The friendly tradition on the Rancho Cordova City Council has been
to promote the old Vice Mayor up to Mayor and then hand the job of
Vice Mayor to the next council member in line. This year the
next-in-line by that tradition was Dan Skoglund, who was nominated
as Vice Mayor. Dan turned the honor down in order to keep the best
balance possible of his time and energies between his day job and
his duties as a council member. I would have liked to have seen Dan
as our Vice Mayor, but I deeply respect him for making that hard
choice.

This is a good reminder that these fine people serving us as Council
Members are asked to give a great deal of their energies, and huge
amount of their time for not much pocket change, a few "thank
yous", and way too many headaches.

But they are not the only ones who have been making sacrifices for
the good of this community. Behind each member of our city council
are their families and business associates. They have been asked
to give up times and energies that would have otherwise been
focused on them  --- and take a few hits to their wallets --- because
of the very key role our council members have in the life of this city.

Our Council Members get to hear the words "thank you' from time to
time. Today let us be sure to also say "thank you" to their supportive
family members and all the other folks who stand behind them.
